St. James place

SJP is a leading financial services organisation with a complex structure and multiple high-impact stakeholders. The challenge was understanding the Key outcomes, User needs and then balancing these against project delivery constraints.

Located within a growing marketing department, I was tasked with refining user journeys, redesigning an online calculator tool and reviewing the output of external agencies (engaged in supplying digital marketing material).

Retirement Calculator

The existing calculator was built and hosted by an external agency, and running costs were expensive.

The new version needed not just to replace but to improve the UI, making it more intuitive to use.

The language used was difficult to follow unless you were an adviser. I worked with a copywriter to help refine it.

Solutions needed to be reused in future calculators, so the ability to change fields and results needed to be considered.

  • Wireframe

  • Stakeholder engagement

  • Prototype

  • Understand calculator engine

  • UI design

  • Handover to the external dev team

Sign off and Handover

I created slides that were used to review with stakeholders and then used to hand over to the external development.

Lead generation for retirement planners

Help people with little knowledge of retirement planning by giving them information on goals.

Deployed inline of other content or stand-alone

Success would generate more leads in this area or increase traffic to the retirement calculator

Pathways

With multiple paths to the various careers with SJP, they needed a cleaner structure to improve discovery and allow growth over multiple departments, including:

  • Internal SJPcareers

  • New adviser training

  • Becoming a partner

  • Migrate a business to the SJP

I needed to understand the structure of the company. Then engage with the main stakeholders in each department and run workshops with them to find pain points.

Solutions not only had to help the end users they also needed to be signed off by all departments.
